In-camera negatives were not the intended use of the Kodak Matrix Film 4150 that I used to make this photograph, that was the least of my worries. My biggest problem was how to keep the thick, mushy, 45 year-old gelatin emulsion on the film base while I developed it. In this case it mostly worked out.
The Paper Moon was a local strip club that was right on my way to and from work at the school of the arts here in Winston. It’s parking lot was, shall we say, rustic? On this occasion I was headed to photograph something else, but happened to look down. And the rest kind of arranged itself. I don’t wait for the muse. I just go out and start working, and if she happens to show up, at least I’ll have the gear set up already.
